What is iAquaLink? How is iAquaLink 3.0 different from the iAqualink 2.0 or original version?
iAquaLink is a system that includes a device, a web service, and a set of mobile and web apps to allow pool owners and pool professionals easy, convenient control of the pool or pool/spa system, from web-connected devices. iAquaLink 3.0, iAqualink 2.0 and the first generation iAquaLink provide the same end-user experience. People already using iAquaLink or iAqualink 2.0 will enjoy all the same benefits that iAquaLink 3.0 users will enjoy.
iAquaLink 3.0 contains Wi-Fi communication enhancements making it easier to connect iAquaLink 2.0 to home Wi-Fi networks. Some of the features include: support for 802.11n, 802.11b & 802.11g and compatibility with popular Mesh routers.
Where are the Windows and Mac Wi-Fi setup tools for iAquaLink 3.0?
iAquaLink 3.0 and iAqualink 2.0 does not require any special Windows or MAC WiFi setup tools . iAquaLink 3.0 is set up using a smartphone or tablet, or using WPS.
Where can iAquaLink 3.0 be installed?
iAquaLink 3.0 can be installed on any in-ground pool or pool & spa system. Installation options are available for virtually any Zodiac or Jandy® branded AquaLink® Automation system ever made. iAquaLink is not compatible with other manufacturer's automation systems, but for many other automation systems, AquaLink conversion kits are available. What does iAquaLink 3.0 "installation" consist of?
iAquaLink installation consists of wiring the iAquaLink Web Connect Device to the RS485 communication port on an AquaLink automation system. This must be done by a licensed electrician or a qualified pool professional. Find a Pool Pro.
The device is weatherproof so it can be mounted in the best position for connection to the modem/router.
Once installed, the device connects to the internet, via the pool-owner's existing router. The iAquaLink device can connect via Wi-Fi (wireless) or Ethernet (wired with an external Ferrite bead; see installation guide for more information on the Ferrite).
Where can iAquaLink 3.0 be used?
iAquaLink via an IQ30 device can be installed on any RS or PDA automation system with up to date firmware (RS version R or greater), and wherever internet access is available. An iAquaLink account and mobile app are required, and are free to get and free to use. Once set up, iAquaLink apps can be used anywhere in the world, 24/7, as long as they have an internet connection.
What devices are compatible with iAquaLink apps?
Apps are available for almost all smartphones & tablets. Native Apple® and Android® apps are available from Apple's App Store and from Google Play®.
An HTML5 mobile web-app can be used on many other (non-iOS and non-Android) smartphones, tablets, and e-readers. It can be accessed directly at iAquaLink.com/mobile (not case sensitive).
iAquaLink can be used on more mobile devices and operating systems than any other pool control system.
Is a mobile device included with iAquaLink?
No mobile device is included. iAquaLink runs on your existing devices.
What are the costs associated with iAquaLink?
iAquaLink Devices are sold through pool professionals. Different device kits may be required depending on the age and model of the automation system. The device needs be installed by a licensed electrician or qualified pool professional. They can provide you with an installation estimate or quote.

What if I already have other user interfaces?
If you already have an AquaLink control system with other physical interfaces (touch pads, control panels, wireless remotes, etc.), you can continue to use them with iAquaLink. With AquaLink RS systems, iAquaLink can be used with other controllers, or as the only interface.
Is there any advantage to using a local (non-Internet based) interface?
In some cases, yes: iAquaLink does require an internet connection, as does the smart-device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) running one of our free apps. Some pool owners elect to have at least one local (non-internet-connected) interface installed – particularly where renters, relatives, or anyone needing convenient control of the pool should be able to do so without downloading or using an app. A local interface is also a must-have where a consistent internet connection cannot be relied upon.
Some examples where an additional local interface should be considered:
Vacation or rental property, where renters shouldn't be able to control the pool/spa after they leave the property.
Where anyone who may not be comfortable using a smartphone or tablet should be able to control the pool.
Where the internet connection isn't very reliable or cannot be depended upon. A local interface could be used during internet outages. (Note: during power outages, the entire pool system may be inoperable anyway.)
Can I share control with family, friends, or pool service companies?
Yes, you can share control with anyone you choose. iAquaLink is extremely flexible: Everyone can share one account and password, or each person can set up their own account with their own password. The homeowner ultimately chooses who has access to the pool.
What can be controlled using iAquaLink?
Virtually every device controlled by the AquaLink automation system can be controlled using the iAquaLink web-based interface. It's like having control of the pool in your smartphone. With iAquaLink, you can turn on pool pumps (such as the filter pump), and the pool cleaner from the kids' soccer game, before getting in the car. Date night? Turn on the spa while you pay the check, and it will be hot and bubbling by the time you arrive home. Check the status of pumps, pool & spa lights, temperatures, and even change the temperature set points. Depending on the AquaLink you are controlling, it can even be used to control solar heating systems, water features such as waterfalls, water jets, spill-overs, and more. Outside the pool, landscape lights, misters, and even irrigation valves can be controlled. The choices of what iAquaLink can control are only limited by you and your pool professional's imagination.
What if I have multiple pools, or more than one home?
Multiple pools and multiple locations can be operated from the same app, with just one log-in. Multiple accounts can control one pool too, so your pool service company can have your pool and all their customer's pools in their account – but none of the customers have visibility or control to the other customer's pools, and no one needs to share a password. How about Security? Can I remove someone's access to my pool?
The homeowner has full control of who has access to the iAquaLink. While connected to the home network (the same network the iAquaLink is connected to), you can remove your pool from other user accounts. Your iAquaLink device is as secure as the network it is connected to. Reasonable steps can be taken to secure your home network - such as changing the SSID (the network name), not broadcasting the SSID, or changing the network password (sometimes referred to as passphrase or key). Because all routers are slightly different, detailed instructions on how to do this may be found in the owner's manual for the router, or by contacting the router manufacturer's customer or technical support department.
Can I install iAquaLink myself?
Installing iAquaLink is not a DIY project. Installing the iAquaLink device can involve working in close proximity to high-voltage, high-current electrical systems which have the potential to cause severe injury or death. It also requires detailed knowledge of how a pool automation system operates. Only a licensed, qualified pool professional or electrician should attempt to install iAquaLink, and only after having read and understood all warnings contained in the Quick Start Guide. Does iAquaLink support multiple languages?
iAquaLink currently supports English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, and Afrikaans with more to come in the future. In addition, the iAquaLink apps will detect the language used on the smart phone or tablet, and use that language as the default. Local (non-internet-connected) interfaces are English-only (availability depending on countries).
